The murder case registered against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was heard in a court in Dhaka on Saturday. According to the report of Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, the court has asked the police to file the investigation report by Monday, November 28.
This case pertains to the death of an 18-year-old college student in Mirpur during anti-government protests. Hasina and 23 other people have been made accused in this case.
The student was killed in action by security forces during the protests. A murder case was filed against Hasina and 23 other accused by the brother of the deceased on August 15, 2024.
225 cases including murder registered against Hasina
Haseena has been accused of being directly involved in or abetting the violence, which led to the death of the complainant's brother.
Apart from Hasina, her government also includes former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Qadir, former Law Minister Anisul Haq and former Police IG Chaudhary Abdullah Al-Mamun.
So far 225 cases have been registered against Hasina. Of these, 194 are murders, 16 massacres, 3 kidnappings, 11 attempt to murder and 1 attack on the program of opposition BNP party.
There were violent demonstrations against reservation in Bangladesh. Arson also took place during this period.
Hasina had come to India for anti-government protests
Sheikh Hasina had come to India on August 5 after anti-government protests. The protesting students had been protesting since June demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina in protest against reservation. More than 700 people died in these demonstrations.
In fact, Dhaka High Court issued an order on June 5 and once again implemented reservation in the country. Hasina government had earlier abolished reservation in 2018. After the court's decision, a period of violent protests started across the country.
On August 5, the agitators had threatened to march towards the Prime Minister's residence. After this Sheikh Hasina and her sister came to India. Haseena has been kept at an undisclosed place in India. He has not been seen in public since then.
