The first Israeli attack on the Syrian-Lebanon border

For the first time, Israel launched strikes on three locations along Lebanon's northern border with Syria. The attack was carried out late on Tuesday (November 26). The British news agency Reuters reported this information about the Minister of Transport of Lebanon, Ali Hamier.

He said it was not immediately clear whether the border road communication was disrupted due to the attack. However, in recent weeks, Israeli attacks on the country's eastern border have closed several routes to Syria.

The attack came at a time when US President Joe Biden announced the entry into force of a cease-fire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel. The deal came into force on Wednesday at 4am local time (2am GMT).

The Syrian state news agency reported that four civilians and two soldiers were killed in the attack. 12 people were injured. Among them are children, women and Syrian Red Crescent workers.

According to the Red Crescent, one volunteer was killed and another injured while conducting humanitarian aid work on the border between Al-Dabusiyeh and Al-Arida. The agency also said that several ambulances and workplaces were damaged in the attack.

According to Syrian state television, Israel hit the Arida and Dabusiyeh border points.

Israel's military has not commented on the matter. However, in an earlier statement, they said that the attacks were aimed at the positions in Syria where Iran is involved. They claim the moves are part of a larger plan to reduce the regional influence of Iran and its ally Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday that an attack was carried out on the weapons depot of an armed group supported by Iran in Syria. The move comes in response to an Iran-fueled attack on US forces on Monday.
