US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will attend Donald Trump's inauguration in January. This information was reported by the British newspaper The Guardian with reference to a spokesman of the White House.
White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said, 'President Biden has promised that whoever wins the election, he will attend his inauguration. He and the First Lady will keep that promise.'
However, Trump did not attend Biden's inauguration in January 2021. On January 6 of that year, Biden's inauguration took place just days after Trump supporters attacked Capitol Hill.
After winning the election, Biden invited Trump to the White House – but Trump avoided the matter after losing the 2020 election. But Biden promised to make the transition process “as smooth as possible.”
Earlier this month, Biden said, 'I look forward to the transfer of power. I will do everything possible to make sure you have everything you need. I hope we will have a chance to talk about something that day. Welcome back to the White House.'
Biden skipping the 2021 inauguration is not unprecedented, however. However, Donald Trump is the first president in 150 years of history who did not attend the inauguration of his successor.
Note that Donald Trump will enter the White House for the second term on January 20 next year. He has already finalized the cabinet with 15 members.
