A man was arrested by the Capitol Police from Washington DC, USA. He was taken into custody at the Capitol building visitor center on Tuesday (November 5) after he was found smelling of petrol and had a flare gun in his possession, police said. The British media reported the news.
There were several other arrests and law enforcement interventions across the United States on Tuesday.
Two more people were arrested in connection with election-related threats in Michigan.
Maine State Police said they are aware of hoax calls (with false information to emergency services, such as sending police to a specific location) across the state, but say there is no threat to the public.
