Senior Hamas official killed in Israeli attack

Israel has claimed the killing of a senior official of the Palestinian armed group Hamas. The country's army announced the death of the man named Yaz al-Din Kasab on Friday (November 1). British news agency Reuters has published this news.

An army statement said Kasab was killed in an airstrike in Khan Yunis. According to them, he is one of the last senior Hamas officials to maintain contact with other armed groups in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian group issued a statement expressing grief over Kasab's death. They said Israel carried out an airstrike on Kasab's car. Another Hamas official, Ayman Ayesh, was also killed in the attack.

A Hamas member who did not want to be named told Reuters that Kasab was a local official in Gaza. However, he was not a member of the decision-making political wing of Hamas.

It should be noted that the Gaza war started on October 7, 2023 after the attack of armed fighters led by Hamas on Israel. According to Israeli figures, about 1,200 Israelis were killed in the attack. Meanwhile, armed fighters took 250 hostages to Gaza.

Since then, Israel has launched a military campaign in Palestine to eliminate Hamas. The Palestinian Authority says that more than 43,000 Palestinians have been killed in the past year in the Israeli occupation of Gaza.
