President Vladimir Putin will visit India for the first time after the Russia-Ukraine war. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed this on Tuesday. He told news agency ANI that he would soon announce the dates of Putin's visit. We have started preparations for this.
Dmitry said that after two visits of PM Modi to Russia, now President Putin is visiting India, so we are eagerly waiting for it. Meanwhile, news agency PTI quoted sources as saying that Putin may come to the Russia-India annual summit next year.
PM Modi has visited Russia twice this year. He went to Russia on 22 October for the BRICS Summit. Earlier in July also, Modi had visited Russia for two days. Then he invited Putin to visit India.
Earlier, Russian President Putin had visited India in December 2021. He came to India only for 4 hours. During this period, 28 agreements were signed between India and Russia. There were military and technical agreements. Both the countries had set a target of annual trade of 30 billion dollars (2 lakh 53 thousand crore rupees) by 2025.
Putin visited India on 6 December. During this period many agreements were signed between India and Russia.
Putin avoiding traveling to other countries after arrest warrant issued In March last year, ICC had issued an arrest warrant against Putin. The court held Putin responsible for war crimes on the basis of allegations of kidnapping and deportation of children in Ukraine. This was the first time that the ICC had issued an arrest warrant against the top leader of a permanent member country of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). America, Russia, China, Britain and France are permanent members of UNSC.
Since then Putin has avoided traveling to other countries. He did not come to India last year to attend the G20 Summit. He has not even participated in the G20 summit being held in Brazil this year. In his place, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attended both the programs.
International Criminal Court started in 2002 International Criminal Court i.e. ICC was started on 1 July 2002. This organization investigates war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity occurring around the world. This institution takes action on the basis of rules prepared on the Rome Agreement of 1998.
The headquarters of the International Criminal Court is in The Hague. 123 countries including Britain, Canada, Japan are members of the International Criminal Court under the Rome Agreement. India is not a member country of ICC.
