Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that its forces captured two villages, Ilinka and Petrivka, in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region. The claim was made in a statement on Sunday (December 1). British news agency Reuters reported this news.
According to the statement, in the last 24 hours, the Russian air defense system shot down 55 Ukrainian drones. However, Reuters could not independently verify the information on this battlefield.
According to open sources, Russian forces currently control about 20 percent of Ukraine's territory. In the past two months, they have made the fastest advance since March 2022 in the Donetsk region.
Russian forces are now advancing towards Kurakhov and the northern city of Pokrovsk.
It should be noted that Pokrovsk is known as the only mining center supplying coal to the steel industry of Ukraine.
