Police barrier in Turkey's May Day procession, detained

Turkish police have taken legal action against protesters in May Day. On that day, hundreds of people were detained due to disobeying the ban and hosting a public gathering in Istanbul and traveling towards Taskim Square. Many have also been seen taking a bus on the bus. The British messenger Reuters reported the news.

Home Minister Ali Yerlicaya has said that at least 3 thousand 5 people participated in the protests in five provinces across the country. Five people have been arrested in total.

Istanbul's labor unions and NGOs called for protests. The intensity of the protests is increasing by the city's mayor and President Rajab Tayyab Erdo ।an's political rival Ekram Imamoglu.

In the rainy weather on Thursday, protesters tried to move towards Takasim Square when police stopped them in the Basics and Sisli areas of Istanbul. When the police tried to break the barricade, the police clashed with some protesters.

Video footage showed that riot police and protesters were jumping towards each other. The protesters were giving the posters in their hands, and the police were forcibly taking them to the bus.

International Labor Day is held every year in the country. However, the police have been involved in these rally in recent years. In addition, the procession of Taskim Square has been banned for many years.

Police arrested more than 200 protesters while carrying a procession towards Taskim Square on May Day last year. In the 5th, the clash surrounding the May Day protest in this premises created 5 lives.

The chief opposition Republican People's Party leader Ozur Ozel commented that the ban on the meeting was mainly the government's weaknesses in Taskim Square. He said the ban proved that the ruling party lacks confidence.
