Pakistan panics before SCO summit, Taliban kills 3 more at police officer's funeral

Pakistan is being shaken by terrorist attacks before the SCO summit. On Monday, preparations were being made to bury the slain police officer, during which terrorists attacked and killed three more officers. Pakistani Taliban has taken responsibility for the attack. It is being told that the terrorists laid ambush and started firing indiscriminately at the police officers. Three terrorists have also been killed in the attack. The continuous terrorist attacks in various cities of Pakistan have increased the concern of the Shahbaz government. Islamabad is set to host the SCO summit on Tuesday and Wednesday. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese PM Li Qiang are attending this program.

The incident of death of three more Pakistani police officers in a Taliban terrorist attack took place about 40 kilometers from the Afghan border. Pakhtoon Yar Khan, health minister of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said the attackers had earlier on Sunday night surrounded a police headquarters in Bannu district and shot dead an officer.

He said, “In the latest attack on Monday, three more policemen have been killed in the firing by terrorists. Three terrorists are also reported to have been killed.” He said three terrorists had infiltrated.” The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement. The Pakistani Taliban is considered the biggest threat to Islamabad and is active in the northwest.

Relations between Taliban and Pakistan

Relations between Islamabad and Afghanistan have soured since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Pakistan alleges that the return of Taliban to Afghanistan has led to an increase in terrorist attacks in Islamabad. Pakistan has been accusing the Taliban government of promoting terrorist attacks in its country and giving shelter to terrorists.

Pakistan is shaking before SCO summit

Security was tightened in the capital Islamabad for the SCO summit. 10 thousand police personnel have been deployed in the entire city. Meanwhile, terrorist attacks in other areas of Pakistan before the conference have increased the concern of the Shahbaz government. Last weekend, two Chinese engineers were killed in a bombing in the southern city of Karachi, and on Friday, heavily armed men shot dead 20 coal miners in southwestern Balochistan.

Jaishankar will reach Pakistan on Tuesday
