The preliminary investigation report into the recent blast near Pakistan's busiest Karachi airport has indicated that the attack was carried out with the help of a foreign intelligence agency. This information was given in a news published in the media on Saturday. It is being said that there is huge pressure from China on Pakistan to complete this investigation as soon as possible.
The report submitted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to the anti-terrorism court said that Chinese engineers were targeted as part of a conspiracy to damage Pakistan-China relations through suicide bombings, The Express Tribune reported. Last Sunday, two Chinese nationals were killed and 17 others were injured in a suicide attack by a Baloch insurgent group targeting a convoy of Chinese workers.
A suspected suicide bomber was also killed in the blast that took place near Jinnah International Airport on Sunday night. According to Tribune news, preliminary reports have held the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) responsible for the attack. It has also been indicated that this attack was carried out with the help of a foreign intelligence agency.
The report said that it indicated that an unidentified terrorist had parked his vehicle near the convoy of Chinese citizens before planting the explosives. Hearing the sound of the explosion, police reached the spot and found many people including police and Rangers personnel injured. The Chinese nationals were working at the Port Qasim Electric Power Company on the outskirts of the city and were returning home when their convoy was attacked.
