Nancy Pelosi blames Biden for Democrats' defeat

Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has blamed party leader and US President Joe Biden for the defeat of the ruling Democratic Party in this year's US election. The interview is expected to be released in full on Saturday (November 9). In a report, the British media The Guardian reported this news.

Nancy's comments came days after Democrat Kamala Harris was narrowly defeated by Republican candidate Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

In an interview on The Interview, a New York Times podcast, Nancy said Biden's delay in withdrawing from the race hurt Democrats' chances. “We are dealing with what happened,” he said.

Pelosi said that if the president had stepped down earlier, there could have been a primary vote to select a candidate within the party. But as he delayed and announced the name of Kamala Harris in less time, he too could not prepare that way. Otherwise, they could get someone else as a candidate in the primary and prepare for the election well.

In his speech, 'If the President had stepped down early, there could have been another candidate in the contest. The party expected an open primary vote if the president stepped down.'

He added, 'Like I said, there could have been an orange. I think he could have done better and come on stronger. But we don't really know that. That didn't happen. We are dealing with what happened. Moreover, the fact that the president immediately endorsed Kamala Harris made it almost impossible for the primary vote to actually take place. If it had happened earlier, everything could have been different.'

Democrats engaged in a bitter blame game over Kamala's defeat and Trump's second term as president. Trump was freely called a 'fascist' by Democrats. Such comments of Nancy Pelosi exploded like an explosive.

The Times said Nancy 'worked hard to defend the legislative achievements of the Biden administration. Most of them happened in the first two years of the Biden administration when he was House Speaker.'

Pelosi reportedly played a key role in convincing Biden to withdraw from the candidacy. But he did not want to hurt the President's feelings. In an interview with the New Yorker in August, Nancy said she wasn't too happy with Biden's 'political activism.
