The Israeli army launched a massive attack on southern Lebanon and the outskirts of Beirut. At least five medical workers were killed in the attack on Friday (November 22). Israel's intensified military campaign against the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah continues. And the attack has dampened hopes for a quick cease-fire through U.S. efforts. British news agency Reuters reported this news.
Five medical workers from a Hezbollah-affiliated rescue team were killed in an Israeli attack on two villages in southern Lebanon, Lebanon's health ministry said.
The Ministry of Health claimed that more than 200 medical personnel were among the 3,500 people killed in Israeli attacks in the past year.
Earlier, an Israeli airstrike on a residence near Dar al-Amal University Hospital in the northeastern province of Baalbek killed the hospital's director and six of his colleagues.
In addition, four Italian soldiers were injured when two rockets exploded at a UNIFIL peacekeeping base in southern Lebanon, a UNIFIL spokesman said.
Israel also struck the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Hezbollah's densely populated strongholds.
After an attack on a building in the suburbs on Friday, the residential building was reduced to rubble. Abir Darwich, a resident of the building, said that they left the apartment as soon as they received an evacuation warning from the Israeli army.
He said that the owners have taken loans to buy most of the flats in these residential buildings. All the savings of a lifetime gone in an instant.
Israel has been attacking Hezbollah since it began firing rockets along the border in October 2023 in support of Hamas in the Gaza war.
