Prime Minister Modi welcoming the President of Maldives at Hyderabad House.
Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu said that his country's 'Maldives First' policy will not affect India's relations. He said that Maldives will never do anything that will harm India's security. In an interview given to Times of India, Muizzoo also said that Maldives' relations with other countries will not affect its relations with India.
Muizzu said Maldives will continue to build strategic relations with India as India is an important partner and friend. He said Maldives will continue to work closely with India for regional stability and security.
Muizzu said that relations between Maldives and India have always been strong. He is sure that this visit will further strengthen it. This is President Muizzu's first bilateral visit to India, although earlier he had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June.
Muizzu held a bilateral meeting with PM Modi at Hyderabad House. During this, Prime Minister Modi and Muizzu virtually inaugurated the runway of Hanimadhoo International Airport in Maldives. During this, Muizzu also invited PM Modi to visit Maldives.
Muizzu will visit Agra on Tuesday.

Modi said- India always cared for the people of Maldives After the meeting of the leaders of the two countries, PM Modi said that relations between India and Maldives are centuries old. India is Maldives' closest neighbor and close friend. Maldives has an important place in our Neighborhood Policy and Sagar Vision.
Modi said that whether it is providing drinking water during natural disasters or giving vaccines during Covid, India has always fulfilled the responsibility of being its neighbour. India has always given priority to the interests of the people of Maldives.
Prime Minister Modi said that water and sewerage projects have been completed on 28 islands in Maldives. Work is also going on on 6 more islands. This project will provide clean drinking water facility to 30 thousand people.
Muizzu said- India supported in the time of need President of Maldives thanked India for the USD 400 million currency swap agreement with India and assistance worth Rs 3000 crore. India has given a treasury bill rollover of US $ 100 million to cash-starved Maldives.
Muizzu thanked for the help received from India. He said that India has stood with Maldives in its time of need. Muizzu said that Maldives is ready to welcome more Indian tourists.
Muizzu welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan, also met PM Modi President Muizzu was formally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. During this he was given a guard of honour. Earlier, the President of Maldives had reached New Delhi on Sunday evening by a plane of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) under the Indian Defense Ministry.
President Draupadi Murmu welcomed him at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Modi was also present on this occasion. After this, Muizzu went to the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and paid homage.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Jaishankar had met President Muizzu on Sunday. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, President Muizzu will meet Prime Minister Modi during his visit to India and will hold important talks on regional and international issues. Apart from this, Muizzu will visit Delhi as well as Mumbai and Bengaluru and participate in some programs.
