Rishi Sunak will now be replaced by a black woman, Kemi Badenoch, in the Conservative Party, one of Britain's largest parties. She has been elected as the leader of Britain's Conservative Party. She is the first black woman to achieve this post in Britain. Badenoch, 44, won 57% of the vote and defeated Robert Jenrick in the election for party leader.
Opposition Labor Party leader and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also congratulated Badenoch on his victory. Starmer said that it is a matter of pride for the entire country for a black woman to be elected party leader.
At the same time, Badenoch has said that she does not like to give much importance to her caste identity. When he was questioned on this at the Conservative Party conference, he said that the color of skin, hair or eyes should not be given much importance.
Kemi promised changes in the party After winning the election, Badenoch promised to revitalize the party. “Now is the time to tell the truth,” he said. In fact, in July, the Conservative Party was defeated in the elections under the leadership of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Change is expected in the Conservative Party under Badenoch's leadership. Kemi has promised that she will bring the party back to its core principles after winning the elections.
Sunak had taken upon himself the responsibility of losing the elections held in July.
Who is Kemi Badenoch? Kemi was born in Wimbledon, London in 1980 and raised in Nigeria. After some time she came back to London to study. At the age of just 16, she used to work at McDonald's along with her studies.
After this, Badenoch graduated in Computer Science from the University of Sussex. He started his career from the field of banking. But then Badenoch left banking to enter politics. At the age of 25, he joined the Conservative Party.
She previously served in the London Assembly, then was elected Member of Parliament in 2017. Two years later, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed him Parliamentary Secretary of State for Children and Families. In 2021 she was made Minister for Equality and in 2022 she was appointed Secretary of State for International Trade.
