Morocco has been accused of cooperating in Israeli military aggression in Gaza. Despite the intense opposition to public opinion, military equipment in Israel continues to transport through various ports of the country. Middle East -based media has alleged that the Denmark -based shipping giant Mother -in -law is playing a major role in transporting these weapons.
The main center of the transport is the Tanjia Made and Kasablanca port in Morocco. From there, weapons, especially the F-4 warships, reached the Hifa port of Israel by ships by the Mother-in-Marsk. Then these military goods were taken to the Navatim airport, from which the airstrikes were carried out in Gaza.
According to the published data, a weapons ship, which started from the Houston port of the United States last April, arrived in Tanjier and transferred to another ship called Nexo Mother'sk. It then reached the Mediterranean by Israel. After the news spread, protests began at various ports of Morocco. At least eight dock workers resigned.
In November, two cargo vessels in Mother -in -Marsk were not allowed to anchor in Israel for carrying weapons in Israel. From then on, the transit increased through Morocco. “The Moroccan-Spain route is now being used to transport weapons,” said Alejandro Pojo, a researcher at the Denmark-based center, Delas.
Marsk claims they do not transport weapons in the conflict area. However, the company's US-based branch Mother's Line Limited participates in the military agreement with the US government, which allows the company to transport war-related goods.
Marsk said they sent cargo to more than 5 countries under the US security cooperation program, including Israel.
The Moroccan government has not yet commented on the issue. Pojo said, “If a government wants to know what is inside a shipment.”
The Middle East Eye said the Morocco Port Authority and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent questions about transporting weapons but no answer has been received yet.
According to Jain Hussein, a researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Cipri), Israel imports large quantities of weapons from the United States and reliable routes are very important on its transport. The geographical benefits of Morocco and the closeness of the United States have made it an important partner.
Morocco established diplomatic relations with Israel under the Abraham Treaty in 2021. In return, the United States recognized the demands of the West Sahara of Morocco. Since then the military relations of the two countries have deepened.
“Every bomb, every child's death is enough to shake our conscience,” said Amnesty International's Moroccan -based member. Silence is no longer neutral, but a betrayal.
He said at least 20 activists have been arrested and imprisoned for participating in Palestinian protests in Morocco since the war began in Gaza.
An expert at the Carnegie Center said that despite the level of protests, the Moroccan policy has not yet made significant changes. However, the Opposition Justice and Development Party (PJD) recently criticized the normalization of relations with Israel in a statement.
