Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran reserves the right to respond to Israel's recent airstrikes. On Wednesday (November 27), however, he also noted that the overall situation in the region will influence Iran's decision. British news agency Reuters reported this news.
Araghchi said at a press conference in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, that Iran welcomes the cease-fire agreement signed on Tuesday between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
He expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for lasting peace.
Regarding the cease-fire brokered by the United States and France on Wednesday, Araghchi said whether it would help reduce tensions between Israel and Iran would depend on Israel's behavior.
We reserve the right to respond to Israel's recent aggression, he added. But we are taking into account all the conditions in the region.
On October 26, Israel carried out airstrikes on several Iranian installations. Before this, on October 1, a missile attack was launched from Iran towards Israel, to which this attack by Israel was in response.
Ali Larijani, adviser to Iran's supreme leader, said in a recent interview with Tasnim news agency that Iran is preparing to respond to Israel.
No clear announcement has yet been made on whether Iran will take military action. However, in the wake of recent attacks and cease-fires, new fears have arisen about the stability of the region.
