Intelligence information on tourist attacks in Kashmir was already: officials claim

Local security officials were warned that the Indian -controlled Jammu and Kashmir could attack around April 7, targeting tourists. The Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other agencies warned the local officials.

Officials of the IB and other agencies said that there was a scheduled schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 7 in India's Union Territory (UT) and Srinagar. On this occasion, security was strengthened in Srinagar city and its vicinity. Security was also enhanced at some of the most popular hotels among the tourists and the tourist destinations like Dachigam National Park, located 22 km from Srinagar city. But Modi's visit was canceled four days before the scheduled tour due to the weather. In this situation, on April 22, gunmen were killed in a gun attack in the Bisran Valley in Pehelgam, India -controlled Kashmir, almost all of whom are tourists. The distance from Srinagar to Pehelgam is about 5 km.

A senior police officer said that such warnings were not correct in ten times. But this time the alert to the tourists has proved correct. However, the space was not fixed. Now it is difficult to understand that. The officer acknowledged that it was precisely that the Prime Minister's visit was warned that the military and civil security officials of Jammu and Kashmir could be attacked in a tourist area near Srinagar. They were told to be ready.

Four days before Modi's scheduled visit, the weather department predicted that the weather in Jammu and Kashmir could be bad around April 4-7. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) canceled the visit to the forecast. On this trip, Modi had to pass by helicopter over about three sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. His journey could have been disrupted due to bad weather. However, Modi's visit was canceled but security officials did not reduce their alert and preparation.

The Hindustan Times learned that Nalin, Inspector General of Police Nalin stayed in Srinagar for four days and inquired about all the areas around the city. He arrived in Jammu on the morning of April 22, the gunmen were attacked in Pehelgam. But soon after the attack, he returned there.

The Hindustan Times, who spoke to the officials, confirmed that none of them had specified Phelgam from the intelligence agency.

But now it is reported that the gunmen were already staying in Pehelgam and they were still there. So the failure of local intelligence information is coming out.

Field army officers told the Hindustan Times that they were unaware of the information.
