Imran Khan convicted for May 2023 violence. Imran Khan found guilty in May 9 violence: Supporters of former PM entered military offices, set them on fire

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been convicted by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Lahore on Saturday on charges of violence that took place on May 9, 2023. The court has also canceled Imran Khan's bail in 8 cases.

According to the report of The Express Tribune, Judge Manzar Ali Gill said in his written decision that the audio and video evidence related to violence against Imran Khan has been presented. That is enough to prove them guilty.

The court also cited the testimonies given against Imran in its decision. Among these, there was an allegation of conspiracy to instigate Imran Khan's supporters in Zaman Park.

Imran ordered attack on military assets

In the decision, the court said that the allegations against Imran were serious. He had ordered attacks on military and government properties. Imran's supporters followed his orders and attacked military bases, government buildings and police officers.

The court said that after May 9, the violent incidents that took place again on May 11 and the attacks on police officers were also done on the instructions of Imran Khan. Recordings of undercover police officers were presented by the government in this case.

Was granted bail in Toshakhana case last month

Imran Khan got bail on November 20 last month in the second case related to Toshakhana (Toshakhana Case-II). Islamabad High Court had ordered to deposit a bond of 10 lakh Pakistani rupees as bail. However, even after the order, Imran could not be released.

Imran Khan is in jail since August 5 last year. Already jailed, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were arrested from jail in Toshakhana Case-II on July 13 this year. However, on October 24 last month, Bushra Bibi got bail from Islamabad High Court.

Earlier in November itself, a hearing was held in a Pakistani court to acquit Imran and Bushra in Toshakhana Case-II. However, the court rejected this petition.

Imran is in jail for 485 days

Imran is lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail for 485 days in different cases. The local court of Islamabad had convicted him in the Toshakhana case on August 5, 2023.

After this, he was arrested from his house in Zaman Park, Islamabad and sent to jail. He was later convicted in 2 more cases. However, Imran has been acquitted in all these cases. After his release in the fake Nikah case on July 13, he was arrested in the Toshakhana Case-II case. In this he got bail last month.

Details of major cases related to Imran Khan

Case- 1 Bushra Bibi's ex-husband, Khawar Farid Maneka had accused Bushra and Imran of having an un-Islamic marriage. After Bushra's divorce, Khan married her before the Iddat period was over.

Bushra and Imran were convicted in this case on 3 February. He was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and fined 5 lakh Pakistani rupees. In this case, both were released on July 13.

Case-2 Earlier, on June 3, Islamabad High Court had acquitted Imran Khan in the cipher case (secret letter theft) due to lack of evidence. He was sentenced to 10 years by the special court of Islamabad. Imran Khan was detained on 29 August 2023 in the Cypher Gate scandal.

Case-3 Khan was released on 1 April in the Toshakhana case. His 14-year sentence was revoked.

Case-4 Imran was arrested on July 13 in the second case related to Toshakhana. This case was a follow-up to the first case of Toshakhana. In the first case, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra were accused of hiding information about gifts received from heads of state of other countries and selling them in the market. Today i.e. 20th November, he got bail in this case.
