After Nasrallah's death, Qasim has been addressing the Lebanese public through recorded speeches.
32 days after the death of Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli attack, Hezbollah has announced a new chief. Deputy leader Naeem Qasim was handed over the responsibility of the organization on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by Hezbollah, it has been said that Qasim has been selected for this post because he has always followed the principles of the organization. May Allah show them the path to success in their mission.
Till now Qasim was at number 2 position in the organization. After Nasrallah's death, it was Qasim who addressed the people of Lebanon. According to UAE media house Irem News, he is living in Iran.
Qasim left Beirut on 5 October. He was taken on the plane of Iran's Foreign Minister. According to media reports, Iran's leaders had ordered Qasim's expulsion out of fear of Israel.
Before Naeem, the name of Hashem Saifieddin, who was Nasrallah's cousin, was leading in the race to become Hezbollah chief. However, he was also killed in an Israeli airstrike. His death was confirmed by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu himself.

Who is the new chief of Hezbollah, Naeem Qasim? Qasim was born in 1953 in Kafar Kila village, Lebanon. In the 1970s, Qasim became part of the Shia Amal movement in Lebanon. Amal's job was to fight for the rights of Shias.
Qassim later became involved with the Hezbollah movement in the early 1980s and was among the founding members of the organization.
Qasim has been providing religious education in Beirut for decades. Qasim became the deputy secretary general of Hezbollah in 1991. He is also a member of Hezbollah's Sura Council.
