Gautam Adani opens up about allegations of bribery scandal in the United States

Gautam Adani, the founder of one of India's top billionaires, Adani Group, has opened up for the first time after being accused of bribery and fraud in the United States. He said his organization is committed to complying with world-class regulatory guidelines. This information is known from the report of the news agency Reuters.

The indictment against Adani in a US court alleged that he was involved in a $265 million bribery scam. The allegation is the second major setback for Adani in two years. It has created a stir around the world including India. An Indian state is reviewing a power deal with the Adani Group, while France's TotalEnergies has decided to suspend new investments. The political controversy surrounding Adani has also disrupted proceedings in India's Parliament.

Gautam Adani said at an award ceremony in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Saturday, 'Two weeks ago we were charged with the regulatory policy of Adani Green Energy from the United States. This is not the first time that we have faced such a challenge.'

US authorities Gautam Adani, his nephew and executive director Sagar Adani and managing director of Adani Green Vineet S. Jain has been accused of taking bribes to get India's power supply contracts and misleading investors while raising funds in the US.

The Adani Group dismissed the allegations as 'baseless' and vowed to take all possible legal action. “I just want to say, every attack makes us stronger and every hurdle is a stepping stone for us,” Adani said in Jaipur.

Gautam Adani says, 'In today's world, negativity spreads faster than truth. We are working through the legal process and I would like to reiterate that we are fully committed to complying with world class regulatory principles.'
