An explosion occurred near a Cineplex in Prashant Vihar area of Rohini, Delhi on Thursday morning. An explosion occurred in this area a month ago, which caused widespread panic among the people. This information is known from the Indian media Telegraph India.
Delhi Police Public Relations Officer and Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Tyagi said that one person was slightly injured in the blast. The injured person was released after treatment. Police along with a special cell and forensic team attended the spot. The cause of the explosion is being investigated. However, no suspect has been identified yet.
Delhi Fire Service said they received a phone call about the blast around 11:48 am. A team of fire services was then rushed to the spot and the area was cordoned off as a precautionary measure.
Special Cell, Crime Branch and Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot for investigation and secured the area. Forensic experts have collected samples from the site and are trying to determine the cause of the explosion, said Sanjay Kumar Tyagi.
Earlier last October, a powerful blast occurred near a CRPF school in the same area. The blast damaged a wall of the school and caused widespread panic across the city. However, no one was injured in that incident either.
Initial investigation suggested that the incident occurred due to the explosion of an abandoned bomb. However, further investigation revealed that the explosion was caused by a reaction with industrial waste caused by a man walking his dog who dropped a cigarette butt.
Following the October incident, teams of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), CRPF, and Delhi Police conducted an on-site investigation and forensic experts collected samples.
Finally, today's explosion is under investigation. Besides, emphasis has been placed on maintaining extra vigilance in the area.
