Eight people have been killed in a stabbing at a technical school in eastern China's Jiangsu province. At least 17 people were injured in the attack on Saturday. Police have arrested a student in connection with the attack. News agency AFP reported.
The 21-year-old suspected attacker is a student at the Wuxi Technical Institute of Arts and Technology in the city of Yingxing, police in Yingxing said in a statement. He was supposed to take admission in graduation this year, but he failed the exam. Because of that, he got angry and committed the murder.
The use of firearms in China is strictly regulated. However, incidents of violent attacks with knives are not new. But the death of so many people at once is rare.
Earlier this week, at least 35 people were killed when a car rammed into a stadium in China during an exercise. More than 43 people were injured in this incident.
Besides, there have been several other attacks in the country in the last few months. In October, a man killed three people in a knife-wielding attack at a supermarket in Shanghai. Earlier in September, a Japanese schoolboy was stabbed to death in Shenzhen.
