Two accused in the attack on the US Parliament Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, have refused to accept pardon from President Donald Trump. According to The Guardian, accused Jason Riddle and Pamela Hemphill say that whatever was done on Capitol Hill is unforgivable.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, 71-year-old Hemphill said if she accepted the pardon it would send the message that the January 6 attack was a peaceful demonstration. Hemphill was convicted in 2022 of illegally demonstrating and picketing on Capitol Hill, after which he was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years of police surveillance.
On the other hand, Jason Riddle, who was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a fine of $750, also refused to accept pardon. Riddle told New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) – Whenever a hiring company looks at my background, they will see the allegations against me. These will be further highlighted by accepting the pardon from the President.
