China will not interfere in four issues, Beijing warns the United States

Chinese President Xi Jinping has set four boundaries for building a healthy and balanced relationship with the United States. It should not be for the United States to cross them. Xi highlighted these concerns during a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Lima, the capital of Peru on Saturday.

According to a Reuters report, Xi Jinping said, “As the two major countries, China and the United States should not try to mold the other country to their will, repress it through a show of force, or take away their legitimate right to development to maintain their leadership.” He warned against stifling China's economic development.

Xi Jinping said, 'A new Cold War must not be fought and can never be won. Attempts to contain China are absurd, unacceptable and will fail.' The Chinese leader emphasized that the two countries should respect each other equally.

The Chinese president said, 'It is normal for major powers to have differences. However, it is important to respect some fundamental interests. The Taiwan issue, democracy and human rights, China's ways and methods, and the right to development—these are China's four frontiers. They cannot be crossed. These are safeguards for the security of China-US relations.'

The Chinese president also said, “If the two countries see each other as partners and friends and avoid unnecessary competition, significant progress is possible.”

The US officially adheres to the 'One China Policy'. But maintaining relations with Taiwan, arms sales and promises of military assistance in the event of a possible Chinese attack are also part of US policy. China considers these issues to be a violation of its sovereignty.

At that time, C said that he is ready to work with the newly elected US President Donald Trump's administration. During the election campaign, Trump pledged to take tough trade policies to protect US economic interests, especially against China. Trump started a trade war with China during his first presidency. Both countries impose tariffs on each other's products. The Biden administration has also continued policies started by Trump.

Before that, CO and Biden last met at the APEC summit in San Francisco in 2023. The meeting lasted about four hours. However, after the Chinese spy balloon issue, Biden walked out midway through the discussion and later called Cic a 'dictator' for the second time in a press conference.
