Bangladesh Immigration Police stopped 54 ISKCON members traveling to India with valid passports and visas at the border. These people were going to India to participate in a religious function. Regarding this, the Immigration Police says that even though they had valid passports and visas, they did not have special permission from the government.

An officer of Benapole Immigration Police told The Daily Star newspaper – We talked to the Special Branch of the police. From where we got instructions not to allow ISKCON members to cross the border. A group of devotees from different districts of the country had reached Benapole border to go to India. They waited for hours to cross the border at Benapole, but were later told that they did not have permission to do so.

ISKCON member Saurabh Tapandar Cheli said- We were going to participate in a religious function being held in India, but the immigration officials stopped us citing lack of government permission.

The Financial Intelligence Agency has asked Central Bangladesh Bank to send information about transactions from the accounts of all these 17 people within 3 days.
