Controversy started from Muslim businessman's Facebook post: According to reports, a Muslim businessman Usman Ali had called ISKCON a terrorist organization on Facebook. Hindus were angry with this. They protested in front of Usman's shop in Hazari Lane area in Chittagong on 5 November.

The army lathicharged the protesters. This enraged them further. 12 policemen and many Hindus were injured in this. According to reports, after this, suddenly at night the police and army reached Hazari Lane and beat up the local Hindus. About 25,000 people live in Hazari Gali area, 90% of them are Hindus.

At the same time, ISKCON has claimed that they have no involvement in the Hazari Lane incident. He has also demanded safety of his devotees.
