Bashar al-Assad has taken the most horrific violence after taking charge of the new government in Syria. On Friday night, CNN said many people were killed in clashes between supporters of the country's security forces and former president Bashar al-Assad.
According to the BBC, at least five people have been killed in the clash so far. The injured are also numerous.
The clash began on Thursday in Latakia and Tartus areas of the Mediterranean coast of Syria. Assad had great support among the Syrian Alawi community in those areas. However, communal violence has been going on for three months.
Assad's family is also from the Syrian minority Alawi community. The family ruled Syria for about half a century. But last year, Bashar al-Assad was ousted by the Sunni Islamist rebels. Currently the rebels are trying to reconstruct the country's political and communal structure.
CNN says only 5 percent of the Syrian population belongs to the Alawi community. Although many surrendered weapons after Assad's collapse last December, many Alawi groups still refused to leave their weapons.
The new conflict has become a major challenge for the Syrian new administration; Especially in controlling the armed groups.
“We stand at a critical stage, where awareness and discipline are very important,” the country's Home Ministry said in a statement.
Syrian government news agency Sana said that after several police and security forces were killed in the clash, angry and chaotic people proceeded to the coast.
Syrian intelligence chief Anas Khattab has claimed that the former Assad government-backed military and security forces are behind the plan and implementation of the attack.
“The traitor said that many members of our army, security forces and police were killed in this attack,” he said.
Videos spread on social media show that there have been widespread casualties among young people wearing ordinary clothing along with Syrian security forces.
In a video, some people were killed next to the police car. In another video by CNN, at least 20 ordinary dresses were found dead in a village near the city of Al-Jindaria.
Syrian Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Hasan Abdel Gani warned the incident, saying, “Terrorists are now spreading in the hills. But the only destination for them is the court where they will face trial. '
He told Assad-supporters, 'A lost war will not be fuel. Make a decision – surrender the weapons, or accept your own fate.
The video spread on social media on Friday showed that a large number of military members were deployed in Latakia and Tartus areas. Curfew has been announced until Saturday in Tartus city.
The video also showed that Syrian security forces entered the coastal city of Jable. It is located near the Hememim Airport in Russia. In addition to the collision, fire and smoke coil were seen.
In another video, government forces were seen entering the Assad family city al-Qurdah. There was also explosion and fire smoke. Jabal's coastal area has also been viewed from a military helicopter.
In a statement today, the Syrian Home Ministry has urged all civilians to stay away from the ongoing areas of military and security operations.
The Syrian Health Ministry said the hospitals in Rural area of Latakia and Tartus were attacked on Thursday night. There have been many casualties.
Local journalist Abdur Rahman Taleb said he was attacked by Assad-supporters while covered in Latakia on Thursday. “We were blocked for more than 12 hours in an area of Latakia,” he said. Armed rebels were staying around there. I couldn't imagine, we could get out alive. '
In the event of the violence, there have been a lot of protests in various cities of Syria. Saudi Arabia, one of the major supporters of the Syrian government, has condemned the attack as “organized crime of criminal groups”.
Analysts say the violence in Syria is a major signal for the country's new government. The army conflict with the former ruler's supporters is not only a challenge of internal security, but also questioning the country's political stability.
