Just outside the White House on Tuesday morning, construction workers set up stands to watch the inaugural parade. Only 76 days left for that parade. And President Joe Biden is spending quiet time inside the White House. He is waiting to hand over power to the woman (Kamala Harris) he chose as his running mate, or hand it back to the man he defeated four years ago (Donald Trump).
Biden spent some time in Wilmington, Delaware, after a final election campaign in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. After that he returned to the White House on Monday.
Meanwhile, First Lady Jill Biden kicked off Election Day morning in Wilmington. Before returning with her husband at night, she will cast her vote there.
A White House official told NBC News that the president and first lady will watch the election results with longtime aides and senior staffers at the White House residence. Biden will receive regular updates on the state of the election contest across the country. But he will not be seen in any event.
