There is a war like situation between Israel and many countries in the Middle East. While Israel is fighting Hamas in the Gaza Strip, it is engaged in eliminating Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthi rebels in Yemen. The situation worsened when Hezbollah Chief Nasrallah was killed by Israel in the Beirut airstrike. After this Iran fired several missiles at Israel. Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, Taliban's 'lottery' took place in Afghanistan. Actually, after Iran and Israel missile attacks, most of the international flights are using Afghanistan's airspace. This week it has reached its record level.
The number of flights passing over Afghanistan increased to 191 last Thursday, The Independent reports. Afghanistan's Civil Aviation Ministry charges $700 per flight for permission to use its airspace. Because of this, the Taliban, which is suffering from financial crisis, has earned a lot. US forces were deployed in Afghanistan for many years, but were captured by the Taliban in 2021, due to which the US forces returned to their country. Since then, flights started avoiding Afghan airspace.
On October 7 last year, Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, after which tension increased in the surrounding areas. Israel launched a strong counterattack in the Gaza Strip. In the second week of August this year, the number of flights passing through Afghanistan increased seven times compared to the same time last year. This figure increased further when Iran launched missiles at Israel a few days ago. Flightradar24 data shows that an average of 147 flights a day passed through Afghanistan airspace between September 19 and 30, not including flights originating or terminating in Afghanistan.
Israel intensifies attack on Lebanon
On the other hand, Israel on Saturday intensified its attacks on Lebanon and carried out 12 air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. It also targeted a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon for the first time. An officer from a Hamas military cell, his wife and two daughters were killed in the attack on the Bedawi refugee camp near the northern city of Tripoli, the Palestinian extremist group said in a statement. Israel has killed several Hamas officials in Lebanon since the Israel-Hamas war began in October last year. Apart from this, it has almost eliminated the top leadership of Hezbollah. At least six people have been killed in Israeli air strikes, according to the National News Agency, Lebanon's official news agency.
