Three more cases have been filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi. The cases were filed on Saturday (November 23) and Sunday on charges of hate speech, religious incitement and other charges at various police stations in Gujranwala. This includes allegations that he criticized Saudi Arabia in a video speech. Pakistani media Dawn reported this news.
It has been reported that these cases have been filed on the basis of citizen's complaints at Gujranwala Sadar, Civil Lines and Gakhar Mandi police stations. Two of these cases were filed last Saturday.
However, in a fresh complaint lodged at Gakhar Mandi police station on Sunday, Mohammad Saeed Butt, a local resident of Sultanpura, mentioned that he was sitting in a restaurant where a speech by Bushra Bibi was being broadcast. In that speech, he referred to Saudi Arabia as deviating from Sharia law, which has caused irreparable damage to Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.
The case was filed under Sections 295A, 298, 153 and 126 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Prevention of Digital Crimes Act, 2016.
A similar case has also been filed at Okara police station. Earlier, three cases were registered against Bushra Bibi in different police stations of Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Laiya for her comments against the Saudi leadership.
