At least 22 people were killed in various areas of Lebanon in Israeli airstrikes. Many people were injured in the attack on Tuesday (November 26). On the one hand, when Netanyahu's government was agreeing to a ceasefire with the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, the Israeli air force carried out the attack. Türkiye-based media Anadolu Agency reported this news.
According to the information of the Ministry of Health of Lebanon, Israel attacked several other places including Beirut, Baalbek, Bent Jbeil, Chakra, Al Basta, Barbour.
During that attack, Netanyahu approved the ceasefire in a special session of the cabinet. However, the country's defense minister, Israel Katz, said that the operation will continue until the moment the agreement comes into force. According to the agreement, Israel would gradually withdraw its troops and Hezbollah would withdraw to the banks of the Litani River.
Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed armed group, was founded in 1985. The group, which is committed to Israel's destruction, has been firing rockets into Israel for nearly a year in solidarity with Hamas. Israel also attacked in response.
More than 3,000 people have lost their lives in Lebanon in the last one year of conflict. The Israeli army claimed that 940 of the dead were Hezbollah members.
Israel's air force started a strong operation in Lebanon from last September 20. Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrullah and other top leaders were killed. The activities of the group have weakened as the top leadership is almost paralyzed.
Then, from September 30, Israeli ground forces began operations in southern Lebanon. More than 60,000 people have been forced to flee their homes.
