Who will the Muslim vote in the US presidential election?

The 2024 election race is shaping up to be the most crowded in US history. The two candidates are evenly matched in key states. So far 7 crore 76 lakh voters have cast their early votes which is almost half of the total votes for 2020.

The whole world is now looking at the US presidential election on November 5. The future of the world depends on this election. Recent issues are also gaining importance in the election campaign. Middle East tensions especially with Gaza.

On the one hand, the current Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated that the position on the Gaza issue will remain unchanged. Which means, if he wins the election, he will give all kinds of support to Israel to carry out massacres in Gaza and indiscriminate killings in Lebanon.

On the other hand, Kamala's rival in the presidential election, Donald Trump, has always been known as a 'strong supporter' of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But since the current US administration led by Biden-Kamla is helping Israel carry out 'indiscriminate' genocide, his campaign believes that a large portion of Arab and Muslim voters will vote for Trump in the upcoming elections.

Southern swing states like Georgia and North Carolina have large numbers of evangelical Christians. These are Republican voters, but the trend may be changing because of the youth in this community.

In the eyes of these young people, issues like the economy and climate change are more important than abortion and marriage. People in this community have traditionally voted for Democrats, but this time they are angry with the Biden administration for being pro-Israel.

Polls show that about 29.4 percent of Muslim Americans will vote for Kamala Harris. The news is a nightmare for Democrats. Among American Muslims, 65 percent voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and 80 percent for Joe Biden in 2020. For Barack Obama, the ratio was 80 percent in 2008 and 92 percent in 2012.

Muslim Americans who reject Kamala Harris may vote for Trump. The possibility of opting for a third candidate or abstaining from voting altogether cannot be ruled out.

A recent poll by the American Islamic Council, the largest Muslim organization in the United States, showed that Jill Stein has the support of 42.3 percent of Muslim voters.

Muslims make up one percent of the US population. Not much in terms of numbers. But in hotly contested states like Michigan and Pennsylvania, the Muslim vote is crucial. And there is only one issue in this year's Muslim vote—Gaza.

Muslim Americans respect the power of their vote. They understand the policies of both parties—Orange and Trump—in detail. They voted properly knowingly.
