From today (June 5th), the Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is closing on several old smartphone models as part of its regular update cycle. It was initially scheduled for May 7. However, the service was closed on the phones from today because of the extra time to prepare users.
The iPhone will require WhatsApp's IOS 4.1 or later version and Android 4.1 or higher version for Android devices. As a result, the following iPhone models will no longer support WhatsApp-
IPhone Five S
IPhone Six
IPhone Six Plus
These models are limited to the iOS versions below 4.1, which is not compatible with the updated app.
WhatsApp supports from today are losing support for Android 4.1 or earlier versions. These include old models like Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and Saturn Experia Z.
The WhatsApp authorities say the app is updated in harmony with regular software updates to keep safe data and ensure maximum security. And the phones that are no longer available, the service will be shut down on those phones.
