Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has operated a second consultative workshop as part of the telecommunication sector network and licensing structure reform. The workshop was held at the BTRC building in Agargaon on Thursday.
BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd) Md. Emdad ul Bari said, “Technology is constantly changing, so we have to adapt to new technology.”
He said the network topology would be changed by prioritizing digital services, “he said,” We are already enjoying the benefits of connectivity, so technology has to focus on using various businesses and services. ” Referring to the telecommunication network structure, the BTRC chairman said that the proposed reforms may not fulfill the interests of all, but reform will be implemented with the support of the people of the country at affordable prices of the people and the support of most of the country's economic progress.
In the welcome address, Brigadier General (Retd) Iqbal Ahmed, Commissioner of the Engineering and Operations Department of the BTRC, said that the telecommunication sector will be reformed with the preference of greater interest and customer perspective and the business transformation of existing licensing will be considered in reform.
The proposed reforms are divided into three potential levels of telecommunications sector. It is a customer service (access service provider); The issue of licensing is considered as a connectivity service provider (National Connectivity Service Provider) at the national level and as an international connectivity service provider (International Connectivity Service Provider).
In group -based discussions, the operators mentioned the Active Sharing, setting their own fibers at Lastmile Connectivity, flexible regulations for new technology and platforms. At the same time, he presented views on Active Sharing, Open License Policy, Bandwidth Price Regulation, Lastmile Connectivity, Open Access Transmission etc.
Excluding unnecessary layers in national level services, creating competitive markets, open market access, appropriate monitoring, tax policy and revenue sharing reconsideration, formulation of quality -based service policy, infrastructure sharing, transparent tariff policy launches and short -term proposed reforms are presented.
For international service providers, infrastructure sharing, tariff determination, opportunities to provide all licensing services on all routes, ICT laws with telecom policy and other laws, Data Center D-Relations, Joint Vehicles in the country and region, and the formation of investment, foreign investment, foreign investment, foreign investment.
