Meta has added several features to the messaging platform Messenger. The features will enhance the video calling and audio calling experience. With the new update, Messenger will get features like noise suppression, artificial intelligence or AI based background, HD video calls and hands free calling. Facebook's parent company Meta officially unveiled the features in a blog post.
AI video background can be used during video calls after receiving a new update to the Messenger app on smartphones. Through this feature, users can create backgrounds as per their choice using AI technology. For this, select 'Background' from the effects icon in the sidebar. Then give the AI the desired prompts or instructions and Messenger will create the background accordingly. As a result, users can change the background to protect their privacy during video calls. For example: You can show a field of sunflowers behind you or a balloon ceremony.
Meta has added some new features for video calling on Messenger. These include high definition (HD) video, background noise suppression and voice isolation. These features enable clearer and higher quality calls directly from Messenger.
The device will have HD video feature for Wi-Fi connection as default mode for Messenger calls. However, this feature can also be used with mobile data if desired. For this you have to enable 'Mobile Data for HD Video' from Messenger settings. Background noise suppression and voice isolation can also be turned on or off from Messenger's call settings.
Now voice and video messages can also be added during chats without putting funny emojis next to the text. If no one picks up the call, you can send a video or audio message by tapping the 'Record Message' button at the bottom right of the screen.
Many times it is not possible to use hands to make phone calls. For example: while eating or when hands are wet. In these cases, Messenger's new 'hands free calling' feature can be used for emergency phone calls. But the feature will initially be available on iPhone. The feature will automatically route the phone call to Messenger by simply asking Siri, the iPhone's digital assistant.
