Instagram is bringing a new feature to make social media experience more personal and meaningful. This social media owned by Meta will find a friend who is interested in the same subject by introducing a feature called ‘Picks’.
Recently, X (former Twitter) technology analyst and reverse engineer Alessandro Pauji shared some screenshots of this feature. Screenshots suggest that users can make a list of various topics including their favorite books, games, movies, songs, TV shows.
Then the Instagram user’s preferences will match with his followers who will be interested in who. For example, if you add a particular movie or house to ‘Picks’, Instagram will tell you a friend is interested in the same topic.
The screenshot also showed that this ‘Picks’ feature will be seen in the ‘Notes’ section in the user inbox, and it can be accessed by pressing a new icon on top of the inbox.
Instagram has not yet given details about this feature. However, in a statement to the Technology media, TechCrunch, the company confirmed that the ‘Picks’ are currently in an ‘internal prototype’ stage. That is, the feature is in the experimental phase.
It is believed that Meta is adding this feature to more closely add users to their social media. This will make it easier to start a personal level with friends.
In this regard, Instagram chief Adam Moseri said, “We are going to give more importance to sending messages to help you associate with friends what you find on Instagram. Besides, our aim is to make the experience of enjoying content more interactive and social and find new ways to associate with friends. ‘
