Instagram chat theme is a changeable background for direct messages. Each theme can change the chat bubble and text type. They can consist of colors and gradients or they can be related to an event, mood or interest.
After changing the theme, people associated with the chat will see the new design. They can also change the theme on their side. You can select the theme you like from the list of more than 20 themes on Instagram.
How to Change Chat Theme on Instagram
When you change your Instagram chat theme, it will show on all devices signed into your account. This procedure is same for Android and iPhone. The web app and desktop version do not have this feature. Also, the theme cannot be changed for all chats at once. The theme needs to be changed separately for each chat.
Follow the steps below to change Instagram chat theme—
1. Open the Instagram app on your phone.
2. Tap the message icon (paper plane or messenger icon) in the upper right corner.
3. Select the chat thread you want to change the theme of.
4. Tap on the person's name or username at the top of the screen.
5. This will open a new page.
6. Tap Theme option from the page.
7. Now scroll down to see all the themes.
8. Tap on the theme you want to select.
9. Then tap on the 'Select' option at the bottom right side.
In this way themes can be selected for specific chats.
