Flying taxi services are set to launch within the next few months in the UAE's capital, Abu Dhabi. The US manufacturer Archer has announced that they will fly their 'midnight' aircraft in Abu Dhabi soon and start transporting passengers this year.
Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) is the first customer of Archer. Archer and Abu Dhabi Aviation will jointly work to conduct pilot training, manage flights and increase the involvement of the people. Archer will send a team to pilots, engineers and technical staff for its initial activities and will provide software and booking apps for urban sky transport.
'Midnight' is an electric flying taxi in four seats. It will be managed by a pilot. It is designed in such a way that the back-to-back flight can be operated. The intermediate charging time of each flight is kept minimal.
The flying taxi capable of crossing this route in only 3-5 minutes in the car between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is 3-5 minutes.
According to the Khaleej Times report, the fare of the flying taxi from Dubai to Abu Dhabi can be from 1 to 3 thousand dirhams. Possible fare for this service within Dubai can be 5 dirham.
Archer said they will start production of midnight aircraft in the UAE and supply it to other regions.
Archer will work with the UAE's general civil aviation authorities and other partners to conduct flying taxi activities.
Abu Dhabi Aviation Chairman Nadar Al Hamadi said, “Abu Dhabi Aviation has the necessary experience to build urban sky transport services and we are going to launch the first electric flying taxi service in the region.”
Archer founder and CEO Adam Goldstein said, “The launch of our launch Edition program is the beginning of a new chapter. We are grateful that Abu Dhabi Aviation is our first customer. This is about to be an important year. '
Apart from Archer, another company called Jobby is working to launch a flying taxi service in Dubai. In January this year, the first commercial flying taxi terminal of the United Arab Emirates, called Dubai International VertiPort (DXV), was launched. It is located near the Dubai International Airport.
The United Arab Emirates is going to launch passenger transport in the air for the first time in the city and to connect cities, which will begin the age of the future sky.
