Arab FinanceEngineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, confirmed that the Egyptian state has a road map for implementing green hydrogen projects and that it is serious about cooperating with international companies to make their implementation successful, and that the Ministry of Petroleum is working in this regard to support the acceleration of procedures for implementing new ongoing projects in partnership between the petroleum sector. And leading international companies and the localization of technology industries related to this field locally to attract more investments, indicating that Egypt has the capabilities that qualify it to become a reliable source of hydrogen to Europe and the world.
The Minister welcomed the entry of John Cockrell International Company into a partnership with SCATEC and the companies participating in implementing a production project Green ammonia In Damietta Governorate, stressing that the entry of such international companies to work in Egypt is clear evidence of the attractiveness of the investment climate in Egypt in light of the many components it possesses and as a gateway to the region as a whole. The Minister also pointed out that there are important opportunities to maximize value-added industries and petrochemical production and that Work is currently underway to intensify research and exploration operations and increase production with the aim of providing a surplus for such important strategic projects.
John Cockrell Company made a presentation during the meeting about the role of each company in the alliance in implementing the project and some other similar projects being implemented in other countries.
It is noteworthy that the green ammonia project is scheduled to be established in Damietta Governorate using MOPCO facilities and an investment cost of more than 900 million dollars. The project will include the establishment of a solar energy production station and another for wind energy production, in addition to an electrolyzer for green hydrogen, which is produced through electrolysis technology using… Renewable energy, to produce 150 thousand tons annually of green ammonia, which will be used as clean fuel.
