Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Abdur Rahman Khan has warned that strict measures will be taken if gold is found inside the aircraft. He said, 'They have to take responsibility for the gold found inside the aircraft. If such incidents happen again and again, we will discuss with the concerned parties and take legal action if necessary.
He said these things in response to a question from journalists after the opening ceremony of Customs Help Desk at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday (November 17).
Abdur Rahman Khan said, 'Gold was recovered from many sensitive areas of the aircraft. We take these matters very seriously. After investigation, strict legal action will be taken against the accused.
In response to another question from the journalists, NBR chairman said, 'We are also seeing cases of the same passenger bringing gold again and again with the benefit of baggage rules. The National Board of Revenue will take action against these passengers.
He said, 'Different organizations have taken various steps in the passenger service of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Action is also being taken by customs. We have taken measures so that passengers can easily get services from customs.
Abdur Rahman Khan hopes that the passenger service will be accelerated through the customs help desk inside the airport. He said, 'We will take action against any complaint of passenger harassment from customs.
