Bangladesh has given the team for the ODI series earlier. This time West Indies also gave a 15-member team. The new surprise in the Caribbean team is wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangu. Apart from this, pace bowling all-rounder Justin Greaves has returned to the ODI team after 10 months.
Windies lost 2-1 against England in the last ODI series at home. Two have dropped from that team. Zangu and Greaves replaced Hayden Walsh Jr. and Jewel Andrew.
This is the first time Jangu has been called up to the Windies team. The 27-year-old AAE wicketkeeper has not played for the national team in any edition before. In the West Indies domestic cricket Super 50 season, he scored the highest 446 runs in 7 innings at an average of 89.20 against Bangladesh. Greaves also returned with an all-round performance in the same competition. He also scored his first career century in the first match of the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh.
“We are moving towards the 50-over World Cup target,” West Indies head coach Darren Sammy said about the ODI squad against Bangladesh. Looking at that, we are making players in a short period of time.
The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Windies will begin on December 8 at Warner Park. The next two ODIs will be on December 10 and 12. The two matches will be played in Basseterre and St. Kitts and Nevis respectively.
