IPL 2025 players auction is going to be held abroad, it was already heard. Authorities were considering Saudi Arabia as the venue. The official announcement came on Tuesday.
This year's mega auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. On November 24 and 25, 10 franchises will pull the players into the team. On the same day, India and Australia play the third and fourth day of the first Test in Perth.
Besides confirming the date and venue of the auction, BCCI said that 1574 players have registered for the auction.
Among them 1165 Indians, rest 409 foreigners. There are 30 people from partner countries. South Africa and Australia top the list with 91 and 76 players respectively.
This is the second time in a row that the IPL auction is being held abroad. The 2024 auction was held in Dubai.
Mega auctions are quite different from normal ones. It is held every three years. Instead of one day it takes place over two days. IPL franchises will form squads for the next three years (2025-27).
