New DelhiFormer South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has announced that he will not return as the bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Steyn said he would remain a member of the coaching staff with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 league. Stan has given this information through his social media post.

Earlier this year, Steyn withdrew his name from IPL 2024 due to personal reasons and Sunrisers appointed former New Zealand cricketer James Franklin as their bowling coach to work with head coach Daniel Vettori. 41-year-old Steyn represented Deccan Chargers (now defunct), Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers in the IPL during his playing days. He last played for RCB in IPL 2020 before becoming the bowling coach of Sunrisers ahead of the 2022 season.
He is credited with playing a vital role in the development of Umran Malik and many other fast bowlers of Sunrisers. Hyderabad had reached the final of IPL 2024 before losing to KKR. This was their first IPL final since finishing runners-up in 2018. Given their success under the Vettori-Franklin combo last year, Sunrisers may consider retaining their coaching staff.
