The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Shariful Islam have returned to the Test team. However, Mushfiqur Rahim is expected to be left out. He was ruled out of the last two matches against Afghanistan due to a finger injury. There is no chance of him recovering before the West Indies Test. So take his place. Besides, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who was injured in the second match against Afghanistan, is also in the Test team.
While Taskin was rested for the Test series against South Africa at home, Shariful played in the National League. Explaining their return, chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said, 'They were not kept (in the South Africa series) as part of workload management. Now they are back in the group.'
Off-spinner Naeem Hasan and pacer Khaled Ahmed have been dropped from the last Test team against South Africa. Zaker Ali Anik also returned to the Test team.
The series will begin with the first Test in Antigua on November 22. Then the second Test in Jamaica from November 30. Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI and T20 series in this tour. BCB has not announced the limited overs cricket team yet.
BCB announced the team after 9:30 PM on Sunday. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto is the main reason for announcing the team at such a late night. He suffered a groin injury while fielding in the second ODI against Afghanistan yesterday. As a result, the selectors wanted to take a decision about him after seeing the scan report. However, in the end, the selectors had to announce the Bangladesh Test team against the West Indies, leaving Shanto without a scan report.
Tomorrow (Monday) 11 members of the Bangladesh Test team will take a flight from Dhaka to Dubai at 6:45 PM. From there they will go to West Indies via London.
Bangladesh Test Squad: Nazmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Sadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Muminul Haque, Mahidul Islam Drawing, Liton Das, Zaker Ali Anik, Mehdi Hasan Miraj (Vice-Captain), Taijul Islam, Shariful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, Hasan Murad.
