The jingling of money, grandiose arrangements – what does not exist in the IPL! Cricketers from different countries of the world are looking forward to play in this Indian franchise league. But Rishad Hossain is not thinking much about IPL.
The mega auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25 ahead of the 2025 IPL. Rishad is also in the auction list along with 12 cricketers of Bangladesh. Bangladeshi cricketers don't get much chance in IPL, maybe he realized that by watching the auction of the tournament in the past. Rishad smiled a little while talking to the media after training in Mirpur today when the topic of IPL came up. The young leg-spinner of Bangladesh said, 'Everyone has the desire to play in IPL, I also have it. But I don't expect much. If you expect more, you will suffer later. I didn't get a team in BPL first, got it later. So everything is in God's hands. If you are lucky, it will be.'
Rishad came into limelight with the 2024 T20 World Cup. He took 14 wickets in 7 matches with the magic of legspin, which is the highest wicket by any Bangladeshi bowler in a T20 World Cup. He also got a team in Jim Afro T-Ten, Big Bash League. But Rishad did not take time to see the other side of the coin. He took 3 wickets in the 3 match T20 series against India last month. He gave away runs with free hands.
Rishad knows that cricket has to go through such ups and downs. Sometimes comes sky-high success. Sometimes there are days of disappointment in cricket. The 22-year-old leg-spinner told the media after the practice of Rangpur Riders today, 'There will be bad times in cricket. It is not under anyone's control. I am working on my skills, trying to get back to my best rhythm.'
Bangladeshi cricketers do not get much chance in IPL as they cannot perform as expected in T20. Apart from this, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) often does not issue No Objection Letter (NOC). Shariful Islam, Taskin Ahmed were offered IPL but did not get a chance to play.
