Pakistan chose new captain, vice-captain


After Babar Azam stepped down, it was only a matter of time before Pakistan's new white-ball captain was named. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally chosen a new captain ahead of the tour of Australia and Zimbabwe. They chose wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan. Salman Ali Agha has been made vice-captain.

Babar quit the ODI and T20 captaincy earlier this month. Rizwan will be the new captain was already discussed.

Meanwhile, the PCB has also released the list of central contracts. There is a place for 25 people. It will be effective from July 1. Five people have received this contract offer for the first time. They are Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Irfan Khan and Usama Khan. All of them are placed in D category. Fakhar Zaman has been left out of the contract due to problems with the board.

Those who are under central contract-

Category 'A' – Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan

Category 'B' – Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi and Shan Masood

Category 'C' – Abdullah Shafiq, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Numan Ali, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel and Shadab Khan.

Category 'D' – Amer Jamal, Hasibullah, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jr and Usman Khan.
