Taskin Ahmed has not had such an achievement in Test cricket even though he has been series best in limited overs cricket several times before. That regret has also been removed in the Jamaica Test. Taskin became the series best with 11 wickets in two Tests. He is very happy to be the best. The reason for such euphoria is mainly because of the success of Test cricket.
Although BCB has a three-format contract, Taskin told the board last February that he wants to stay away from Test cricket for the time being. The decision is made so that the shoulder injury does not become serious enough to push for surgery. But his break did not last long. He returned to Test cricket with a tour of Pakistan last August.
His bowling in the Antigua Test against the West Indies also brought Bangladesh back into the match. Couldn't win the match though. Taskin took 8 wickets in two innings. Although he did not take so many wickets in the Jamaica Test, he played a key role in winning the team by taking wickets at important times. Taskin became the best in the series by picking up 11 wickets with 3 more wickets in this Test along with the previous 8 wickets. However, Man of the Series has been recognized jointly by the two. Jayden Sills and Taskin both won the series. The pacer was seen very happy as the Caribbean cricketer showed courtesy and asked Taskin to keep the trophy.
“It's a big achievement,” Taskin said after Jamaica's Test win. We drew the Test series. Many big teams suffer in their condition. We were going through a bit of a rough time. After winning the series in Pakistan, losing a few series left me mentally depressed. But managed to turn around strongly.'
Regarding his performance, Taskin also said, 'I tried my best in both the matches and Allah Ta'ala gave me this award as Man of the Series. Hopefully, many more to come…. I was trying hard to get back to Test cricket after my shoulder problem. (condition) is better now than before. There will be more such achievements ahead.'
From the beginning of his career, injury has become a constant companion of Taskin. Battling that injury, Taskin has produced one success after another. Although not very good in Test cricket, he was close to good. The best pacer of the country removed that regret by performing well in two Tests against the West Indies.
“I am very happy,” said Taskin, who won the series for the first time. However, the task was not easy. The condition of the shoulder was bad. By God's grace, I am now coming back to Test cricket. Had to suffer a lot. It is now beginning to bear fruit.'
