Real Madrid will face Liverpool in a blockbuster Champions League match at Anfield next Wednesday. Before that, they got their second consecutive win in La Liga. Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham netted in a 3-0 win over Leganes.
Mbappe was criticized for performing inconsistently this season. Both of them said that they did not run out. They returned to form before the Liverpool match and put the Madrid club at ease.
Leganes' strong defense kept Real at bay for long periods. The first half seemed to end goalless. But three minutes before the break, Mbappe scored his seventh league goal of the season, his first in five games, through Vinicius Jr.
Real tried to take control of the match by dominating possession in the second half. Bellingham extended the lead in the 66th minute with a superb free kick after a foul.
Bellingham scored for the second straight game in the 85th minute. The England midfielder hit the crossbar and headed the ball into an empty net.
With this victory, Real Madrid topped Atletico Madrid in La Liga. They have played one match less than Barcelona (14) and are four points away from the top spot.
