New Delhi. VVS Laxman can be the head coach for India for the T20 series against South Africa. He will replace the current national coach Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir is going to Australia for Border-Gavaskar Trophy. On Monday (28 October), a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. The T20 series against South Africa will start from 8th November.
India will play four T20 International matches on 8, 10, 13 and 15 November in Durban, Gabera, Centurion and Johannesburg respectively. The team will leave around 4th November. The Indian team will leave for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on 10-11 November. In such a situation, Gambhir will be with the Test team and Laxman will be with the T20 team. Other coaches, such as Sairaj Bahutule, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Subhadeep Ghosh will be part of the coaching staff under Laxman.

Bahutule (head coach), Kanitkar (batting coach) and Ghosh (fielding coach) were part of India's emerging team that participated in the Asia Emerging Cup tournament in Oman. Saurashtra's Sitanshu Kotak and Kerala's Mazhar Moidu, both associated with the NCA, have gone to Australia with the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India A team.
