New Delhi. The Indian cricket team had to face defeat in the first test match of the 3-match series. New Zealand defeated India by 8 wickets on the fifth and last day of the Bengaluru Test match. After this defeat, BCCI has suddenly included a new player in the Test squad for the remaining two Test matches of the series. Spin all-rounder Washington Sundar has been officially added to the Indian Test team. Sundar will join the Indian Test squad before the second Test match to be played in Pune. The second test match of the series will be played in Pune from 24th October.
24-year-old all-rounder Washington Sundar played his last Test match against England in Ahmedabad in March 2021. Sundar had scored an unbeaten 96 runs in his last test. India won this test with an innings defeat. Sundar is currently playing for Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy. He recently played an inning of 152 runs against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In this match, he also took two wickets with his spin bowling. Sundar's sudden inclusion in the Test squad is a surprising decision of BCCI. Because spin all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin are already present in the team.

Sundar may get a chance in place of Kuldeep
It is doubtful for Rishabh Pant to play in the second test match. The Indian team can give a chance to all-rounder Sundar in place of spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the second test match, which will provide depth in the batting. There has been no statement from BCCI yet regarding Pant whether he will be available for the upcoming Test matches or not.
India's squad for the second and third Test against New Zealand: Rohit Sharma (captain), Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep, Washington Sundar.
